Job Description:

The Event Planner reports to the General Manager and is responsible for the following:

Job Summary

The Event Planner is responsible for the planning and execution of all events with a seamless turnover from sales to operations back to sales. Duties involve negotiating and coordinating budgets, vendors, decor, menus, wines and libations, entertainment, tenting, VIPs, off-property events, and all related requirements for our clients, maximizing revenues and profits while ensuring the safety and quality of our services.

  • Four year college degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of four years industry experience preferred.
  • Previous department experience in a hospitality/hotel/restaurant/catering environment preferred.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel knowledge and proficiency required.

Requirements

  • Long hours and weekends are required during seasonal demand.
  • Medium work-exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force.
  • Ability to stand for long hours at a time.
  • As Event Planner, you will also spend some time moving about the event site overseeing the various components, contractors and staff during the installation, event and strike.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Must be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling concerns in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving these concerns as necessary.
  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from various sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Ability to work well with a team.
  • Must be effective at listening, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by Swift + company staff and clients.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data.
